Andrew Lawn will taking a seat at the Jaffrey Select Board table after winning a contested race on Tuesday.
Lawn was up against Nathan Flowers for the seat, and received 477 votes, compared to 138 for Flowers.
Lawn was campaigning outside of the Jaffrey polls on Tuesday, and said he had been speaking with voters as they came in. He said many of them middle-class workers, and that he stood to represent them.
Lawn said he wasn’t looking to make big waves in the seat.
“Our town manager is good, our Budget Committee is good – they’re very fiscally responsible,” Lawn said. “I’d like to keep staying the course.”
All other races on the ballot were uncontested. James Draper III and Grace Flesher were elected as library trustees, with 450 votes and 458 votes, respectively. Diane Schaumann was elected as trustee of the trust fund with 567 votes. Victoria Arceci was elected supervisor of the checklist with 586 votes. Paul Hutchinson was elected as moderator with 578 votes.
A total of four zoning articles also passed resoundingly.
The first article was to allow multifamily units in the town’s General Business, General Business A and Residential B districts, as long as sewer and water are available. The change also provides a bonus density (allowing more units) for workforce and senior housing. The article passed 453-133.

The second amendment allowed workforce or senior housing developments to exceed the maximum number of units per building – currently limited to eight. It passed with 445 in favor, and 191 against.
The two remaining articles corrected a numbering mistake and clarified certain descriptions in the industrial districts, without making any substantive changes to what is allowed under the ordinance. Both passed.
