Book donations at Jaffrey library canceled

The second Saturday of the month, May 11, would be the regular time for the Jaffrey Library Friends to accept book donations for their sales. However, the library will be closed that day to honor Cynthia Hamilton's contribution to the library, so that staff and trustees may attend her memorial service at the United Church of Jaffrey.

The next book-donation opportunity will be on Saturday, June 8, when anyone can bring up to 15 books to the Bean Room on the main floor from 10 to noon. Volunteers will screen donations before adding them to the sale shelves. All books should be in good condition with no writing, tears or stains on the pages. The criteria for donations are posted on the two sale shelves. Sales show that recent fiction, hardback and paper editions, are especially popular.

These second Saturdays of each month are the only times book donations can be accepted; don’t take any boxes or bags of books to the library staff or leave them in the outside book drop. Funds raised by book sales help support library services and programs. Look for the Friends of the Library table at the farmers’ market sponsored by Team Jaffrey and held on the library lawn every Friday during the summer.
