Letter: Celebrating DSPs

I am writing to highlight the critical role that direct support professionals play in our communities. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly to support people with disabilities, ensuring they can live fulfilling, dignified lives.
They provide essential care – often in challenging circumstances – and are the backbone of services for individuals with disabilities.DSPs help individuals with everything from daily tasks like cooking and dressing to providing emotional and social support. In many cases, they foster meaningful connections and help individuals engage more fully in their communities. For those in adult day programs and other supportive environments, DSPs are the difference between isolation and engagement, dependence and empowerment.
Despite the profound impact they have on the lives of people with disabilities, DSPs are often undervalued, underpaid and overworked. They deserve fair wages and the recognition that their work is highly skilled and indispensable. By supporting DSPs, we are investing in the well-being of our community and the values of inclusion, respect and care that we all hold dear.
Monadnock Worksource celebrates and honors our direct support professional workforce during this month of celebrating the essential work that they do every day. Thanks for all you do! We recognize the value DSPs bring and advocate for the resources they need to continue their incredible work.
