Vandalism that included ransacking the school cafeteria, spreading ketchup over the kitchen stove and counters and strewing fresh fruits and vegetables from the refrigerator all over the floor landed 14- and 16-year-old students at Conant High School a 30-day stint at the Industrial School at Manchester.
Meanwhile, in Rindge, “a group of Bay State educators have filed incorporation papers for Franklin Pierce College. The group, which is headed by Frank S. DiPietro. of Lunenburg, Mass., president of Stevens Business College. Fitchburg, is negotiating for the purchase of the Amy Belle Rice homestead in Rindge Center, and nearby land owned by Mrs Rice’s son, John Benton Rice.”
And thus, an early step toward the current Franklin Pierce University.
