ConVal boys win at first meet; girls finish fourth

ConVal’s boys’ and girls’ track and field teams competed in their first meet of the season Thursday at John Stark. The boys won their meet with 76 points, while the girls finished fourth with 23 points.

For the boys, Kendrick Edwards led the way by winning the 100-meter dash in 11.34 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.96 seconds. Jack Telofski won the 300-meter hurdles in 52.72 seconds and finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 21.94. Will Simard won the 800-meter run in 2:00.37, Ross Stephens won the 400-meter run in 52.35 seconds, and Josh Decker won the triple jump with a jump of 32 feet, 1 inch. The 4x100-meter relay team of Walter Stephens, Bretton Davies, Sam Davis, and Wetu Selby won their race in 47.37 seconds.

Other high-placing finishers for the boys were Maxx Telofski, second in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet, 8 1/4 inches; Elliot Featherstone, second in the 100-meter dash in 11.91 seconds; Walter Stephens, second in the 1,600-meter run in a personal-best 5:02.22; Sam Davis, third in the 100-meter dash in a personal-best 12.05 seconds; Wetu Selby, third in the 200-meter dash in 24.17 seconds; Roman Cadwallader, third in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 2 1/4 inches; and Bretton Davies, third in the long jump with a personal-best jump of 16 feet, 9 inches.

For the girls, Whitney Adair won the 800-meter run in 2:34.01 and was part of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished in third place in 57.19 seconds, along with teammates Callie Post, Hannah Deschenes and Larianna Trudel. Trudel also finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.39 seconds. Amelie Davis finished third in the long jump (12 feet, 6¼ inches) and Davia Porter tied for third place in the shot put with a throw of 20 feet, 5¼ inches.

The teams’ next meet will be Wednesday at Milford High School.
