The Grapevine Family & Community Resource Center benefited from increased giving this year by individuals and participants who wore purple and raised pledges for its annual spring walk fundraiser Saturday in Antrim.

According to Grapevine Executive Director Melissa Gallagher, as of Saturday, it was clear the organization would exceed its fundraising goal of $10,000. Proceeds benefit Grapevine programs and services for children, teens and families.

“Our community has really stepped up this year in support of the Grapevine. Despite the rainy weather, we were touched by the strong turnout at this year’s walk and the generosity of donors who gave and raised pledges. Since experiencing a recent federal funding loss, more people are reaching out to us to ask what they can do,”  Gallagher stated. “We tell them they can give funds, they can contribute to our program supply wish list and they can volunteer. It all makes a difference and really ensures we can continue to offer all of the programs and services people know us for and rely upon.”

The annual spring walk event, now in its 21st year, has raised over $230,000 in total for the organization and is their largest fundraising event of the year. This year’s one-mile walk in downtown Antrim included nearly 100 walkers, scooters and strollers, as well as pets. Student leaders from Conval High School also attended to promote upcoming “Break the Stigma” events in support of mental health awareness this spring, including a 5K fundraising walk May 31 to benefit The Grapevine’s Avenue A Teen Center.

The Grapevine is a nonprofit organization located behind the Tuttle Library in Antrim that serves the people of Antrim, Hancock, Bennington, Francestown, Hillsborough and nearby  towns. Donations are tax-deductible and can be made online at grapevinenh.org or by check to the Grapevine at PO BOX 637, Antrim, NH 03440.
