Letter: Civil War monument was hard to reach

My husband and I traveled through Peterborough on Thursday, May 23. We were on a scenic tour of New Hampshire towns reading historical markers and stopping to see Civil War monuments. Peterborough has a lovely monument at the G.A.R. building, but it's not welcoming at all for visitors (one has to duck under a chain to get close), nor are the surrounding grounds showing any respect (overgrown weeds and grass and steps in disrepair). Who owns that G.A.R. building now and why are they not maintaining the monument grounds?
