Brad Bates of Dublin School named board VP for Association of Independent Schools of New England

Dublin School Head of School Brad Bates has been appointed the vice president of the Association of Independent Schools of New England (AISNE) board starting in the 2024-2025 school year.

Bates has more than 25 years of independent school leadership and has spent 16 years as the head of Dublin School.

“We’re thrilled Brad will be part of the AISNE board leadership. He brings such a breadth and depth of experience to this role that will benefit the entire membership. I look forward to working alongside him as we envision the future of AISNE,” stated Sara Wilson, incoming executive director of AISNE.

Before becoming the head of Dublin School, Bates served three years as the assistant principal at Aspen High School in Colorado and 15 years as a dean of students, history teacher, coach, and dormitory parent at St. Andrew’s School in Delaware.

“I enthusiastically endorse and congratulate Brad Bates on his selection as vice president of the AISNE board,” stated Phil Runyon. “I have been a parent and grandparent of Dublin School students and a trustee since 1985, so I have witnessed the school’s fortunes during much of its history. While Dublin has had a number of effective heads, the school has never experienced the degree of success it has achieved during Brad’s 16 years at the helm. Every aspect of the school’s existence, from faculty development to school life and from the school’s facilities to its financial security, has thrived under Brad’s leadership. And the proof is in the fact that other schools have sent teams of their administrators to Dublin to find out what’s in the ‘special sauce’ that Brad has helped develop here. It would not be the school it is today without Brad, and it’s extremely rewarding to see those contributions recognized by AISNE, as well.”

Of the appointment, Bates stated, “I am thrilled to accept this new role in support of Sara Wilson and the rest of the AISNE team. AISNE provides inspiring leadership in the independent school space, and Dublin School educators have benefited from their programs and support for years. I look forward to supporting Sara as she develops a strategic vision for AISNE’s future.”
