Town Hall Theatre, 40 Main St., Wilton, will screen the 1925 silent film "Ben Hur, A Tale of the Christ" on Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10 to support the theater’s silent film series.
Starring Ramon Novarro and Francis X. Bushman, the film tells the story of Judah Ben Hur, a Jewish man seeking justice after his family is imprisoned by the Romans. The production features large-scale action sequences, including a sea battle and the iconic chariot race. "Ben Hur" was among the most expensive films of the silent era, taking two years to make and costing between $4 million and $6 million.
The screening will include live musical accompaniment by Jeff Rapsis, the Town Hall Theatre’s silent film accompanist, who creates an improvised orchestral score in real time.
