Painters who’ve learned or polished their brush strokes at Creative Ventures in Milford under the guidance of Betty Glass began exhibiting their works at the Jaffrey Civic Center Saturday.

Glass is an award-winning artist whose work has been exhibited throughout New England and as far south as North Carolina. Landscapes, seascapes, birds and still lifes on the first floor of the civic center by Glass’s students reflect “the inspiration and encouragement” that she provides, according to a collective statement made at the opening. Glass has previously taught at the Jaffrey Civic Center.

“My students have been a very special part of my life,” said Glass.

The works on display in Jaffrey are all in oil, which affords artists a greater variety of and more more vibrant colors, said Phillip Mullen of Peterborough, one of Glass’ students exhibiting  some local landscapes at the JCC. (Mullen works in classified and circulation at the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript.)

“Betty’s class is my weekly therapy,” said Lorna Perkins of Hollis, whose still lifes sport vibrant colors.

The exhibit is in the Auditorium Gallery in the JCC through Dec. 14.
