Christine Luby to discuss ‘A Life on Set’ at Hancock Town Library

Hancock native Christine Luby will present “A Life on Set - Stories and Anecdotes from 17 Years in the Film Industry” Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Hancock Town Library, 25 Main St.

Luby is an established film and television director who has directed romantic comedies for Netflix, Tubi and Peacock, a children’s film for Disney+ and a YA series for Netflix. In addition, she has a Christmas film due for release this year. Her debut film, “This Little Love of Mine,” was  the second-most watched film globally on Netflix on its opening weekend, and her Disney+ film “The Curious Case of Dolphin Bay” was nominated for an Australian Directors Guild award.

Luby has lived all over the world and originally trained as a dancer before moving into film production in 2007 and began directing during the pandemic in Australia. Assistant director credits include “Aquaman,” “Peter Rabbit,” “The Wolverine” and “Elvis,” and she has worked under directors such as Jane Campion, David Leitch, Baz Lurhmann and Will Gluck.

She is now based in the United States again after 22 years abroad. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions, and the event is free and open to all.
