PeterboroughHertneky, Stanway come to Toadstool

Two authors will visit the Toadstool Bookshop Saturday, May 7.

Hancock author Paul Hertneky’s memoir “Rust Belt Boy: Stories of An American Childhood” tells his story through his Czechoslovakian grandmother’s cooking, the streets lined with saloons, the backroom politicos’ deal-making at a local restaurant, and the aspirations of a generation. Hertkneky will be at the Toadstool at 11 a.m.

At 2 p.m. Eric Stanway returns with his latest collection of strange local lore “Twisted Tales of New Hampshire.” This time, we have a haunted house in Dublin with an extremely unfriendly ghost; the bizarre tale of Frederick Small of Ossipee, who might have gotten away with murder, had he not been so cheap, and more stories.

Both events are free and all are welcome. For more information, call the bookstore at 924-3543.
