Letter: Where was he?

News coverage made much of the president golfing after his tariffs were put into place. Yes, it is outrageous that after unilaterally implementing policies with negative effects worldwide, he would spend his time and energy dining and meeting with Saudi executives and sponsors of LIV Golf.

However, I find the lack of mention of the fact that while the president was wheeling and dealing, the dignified transfer of the remains of the four U.S. soldiers who died in Lithuania took place at Dover Air Force Base simply shameful. The soldiers were identified as Troy S. Knutson-Collins, 28; Jose Duenez Jr., 25; Edvin F. Franco, 25; and Dante D. Taitano, 21. They were part of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. In the president’s own words he tells what he would do that same evening: "I'll be speaking tonight. I think I'm making a speech to the players, great players, some of the best players in the world."

His actions, lack of respect for the military and callous indifference demonstrate his incompetence and lack of understanding of the duties of the chief executive. He is a disgrace to our country.
