The Peterborough Food Pantry’s umbrella organization has been renamed Peterborough Area Community Aid, which is intended to better reflects what the 501(c)3 nonprofit does, where it operates and who it serves.

The organization’s former name was Peterborough Human Services Fund, which, according to pantry officials, was too often confused with the Peterborough Human Services Department within the Town of Peterborough.

“We chose a name that is more inclusive since we serve residents of 13 towns, not just Peterborough,” pantry board President Glo Morison stated. “While the Peterborough Food Pantry is our largest and best-known program, we also provide emergency aid and run a student snack Program.”

In addition to providing food assistance to approximately 300 households each month, in 2023 the organization helped 65 households through its Emergency Aid Program, primarily with critical car repairs.

“Having safe transportation can be the difference between keeping a job or losing it, being able to pay the rent, or getting evicted,” stated Tim Riley of the board of directors.

The Peterborough Food Pantry retains its name and its home at 25 Elm St., Peterborough. The pantry is open every first and third Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. Weekday hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:45 a.m. to noon.

The new mailing address for the Peterborough Area Community Aid (PACA) and the Peterborough Food Pantry is P.O. Box 116, Peterborough, NH 03458.
